The till and the stockroom disagree
The POS closes its session at night, the stock system deducts on sync, and one offline hour in between pulls the two apart. By stock-take day the shelf, the system and the cashier's notebook each hold a different count. Odoo validates the POS order straight onto the same stock ledger the back office reads — one number, no month-end reconciliation ritual.
Returns that cross branches
A customer buys at one branch and returns at another. The refund leaves branch B's cash drawer, the stock re-enters branch B's location, and the original invoice sits untouched at branch A — both branch margins are now wrong and the credit note is a manual job. In Odoo the return references the original POS order wherever it was rung up, and the credit note, refund and stock move post to the right branch automatically.
Replenishment run over chat messages
Store managers photograph empty shelves and message head office, someone turns the photos into a transfer list, and goods in transit belong to no branch until they arrive. Per-store reorder rules and proper inter-branch transfer documents replace all of that. The request, the picking and the receipt become one chain, and in-transit stock is visible instead of vanished.

Should a retailer use average cost or FIFO in Odoo?
Average cost (AVCO) suits most retailers: thousands of SKUs, frequent replenishment at shifting purchase prices, and a margin report that stays stable. FIFO earns its extra bookkeeping when purchase prices swing hard or you need landed cost tracked per receipt. Odoo sets the costing method per product category, not storewide, so fashion basics and imported electronics can each use the right one.
Can Odoo POS issue a full Thai tax invoice at the till?
Yes. The till prints the abbreviated receipt by default, and when a customer asks for a full tax invoice you add their tax ID and branch number to the order and generate the full form from that same order — no re-keying into a separate accounting system. Because the POS order and the invoice share one record, VAT reporting comes from one place.
Will Odoo POS work with our existing barcode scanners, scales and card terminals?
Barcode scanners that type like a keyboard work immediately, and most receipt printers, cash drawers and scales connect through the IoT Box or over the network. Card terminals are the item to check by model: some brands integrate so the amount is pushed to the terminal automatically, others sit alongside the till with the amount keyed in. We test your exact hardware list during scoping, before you commit to a phase.
